Auxerre

Auxerre

The waterfront at Auxerre is one of the highlights of the French inland waterways and our base is perfectly placed to take advantage of this magnificent view. Medieval buildings, the 9th century Abbey and Gothic Cathedral all look down on to our well-equipped port. It provides an unrivaled setting to start or finish your cruise and has a large variety of quality restaurants into the bargain. Auxerre is on the river Yonne and this beautiful waterway has been used for centuries to transport goods to Paris. These days the only boats on the Yonne are pleasure craft cruising between the many attractive and historic towns and villages along the river. Towns such as Joigny, with its vineyards, Sens with its cathedral and Villeneuve-sur-Yonne with the remains of its Château are not to be missed. The Yonne is also the gateway to Paris and a two week cruise from Auxerre can take you into the heart of the French capital.

Note: The Linssen 40.9AC is restricted to cruising on the rivers Yonne and Seine and is ideal for those with previous cruising experience. The 40.9AC is also the perfect trial boat for those considering buying a boat to explore the French Inland Waterways.
